While I was juggling with a post on Reading Wrap-Up 2021 and Reading Goals for 2022, I came across this interesting New Year’s book tag on Twirling Book Princess. Do read check out her incredible blog, you will find everything bookish there!
And here comes my post on this tag!
How many books are you planning to read in 2022?
Last year I had set off with the target of reading 30 books but ended up at 20. Pretty sad considering that I was reading about 50 books a year prior to 2021.
Hopefully, I can reset my reading goal of 30 books this year and achieve it too.
Name 5 books that you didn’t get to read this year but want to make a priority in 2022.
My TBR has always been a mix of Classics, to-be Re-read Classics, and Contemporary fiction. Last year I had intended to read 2 of Charles Dickens’ books that didn’t quite happen. So, adding those two and of course, ‘A Portrait of a Lady’ by Henry James.

I had ‘Never Let Me Go’ by Kazuo Ishiguru in my last year’s TBR but ended up reading ‘Klara and the Sun’ instead. So going back to ‘Never Let Me Go’ at the earliest.

Next up, ‘A History of the World in 10 ½ Chapters’ by Julian Barnes. This book was on my TBR last year…of course, after reading the amazing ‘The Sense of an Ending’ by Barnes, I wanted to read more books by him.
What genre do you want to read more of?
Last year, I read 4 books from the Non-fiction genre which is something unusual for my taste. And I loved these 4 books, especially ‘A Swim in a Pond in the Rain’ by George Saunders. What an amazing book! It made me fall in love with Russian authors all over again. Now that makes me think that probably 2022 is the year when I should read more of Chekov and Tolstoy. And more of ‘Non-Fiction’ this year, please!
Name 3 non-book-related goals for 2022.
First, I would be to get back to painting. This was a hobby that has taken a back seat so need to get back. Second, go back to writing my journal on a regular basis. And thirdly, experiment with baking and cooking in general.
What’s a book you’ve had forever that you still need to read?
‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’ by Audrey Niffenegger. I really need to read this one to watch the movie! Seriously, it has been forever since I had this book on my bookshelf.

One word that you are hoping 2022 will be.
Bookish, after the nosediving statistics on Goodreads I hope to get back my reading streak and I believe we will be so much happier with a good book in our hands.
