Within the blink of an eye, we are here…inching towards April. April is a special month for bloggers as we brace ourselves for the marathon – ‘A to Z challenge’.
As a blogger, I go through sluggish phases but April is one month where I cannot sit back. Blogging from A to Z throws a special kind of challenge: a) think of a theme to follow A to Z alphabets in creating the posts and b) tirelessly post every day of the month (except Sundays!).
Last year, I stumbled upon this challenge just within the nick of time and was keen to sign up. I wasn’t a very consistent blogger till 2019. A huge credit goes to A to Z challenge for making me a sincere blogger that I am today. It was here that I explored many other bloggers and interaction with the community began.
I had participated with the theme ‘Books and Short Stories to Explore’ in 2019. Back then, I wasn’t sure how it would turn out to be and I probably never even imagined reaching the finish line.
The theme that I have chosen for the #AtoZChallenge 2020 is ‘My Letters to 26 Book Covers’. I am essentially a book blogger, and last year my blog posts for the challenge were book reviews and short story reviews. I loved what I created last year but this time, I wanted something more seamless…I wanted the posts to be beads sewn together in a thread. This idea of writing about book covers has stayed with me for about 2-3 years now but I couldn’t ever materialize. I work best under pressure and deadlines; the reason, I guess, this idea will finally see the ‘daylight’.
‘My Letters to 26 Book Covers’ will be personal stories on how I found each of these books, my first impressions of the book through its cover and how it turned out to be, adding a hue to my life and my bookshelf. There will be no review or summary of the book, only perhaps an anecdote on how a certain book cover was designed or finalized.
A note to self that was written a year ago was to prepare the content in February and March so I didn’t have to rush with the posts during the heat of this marathon. But, 2020 has been rather tiring. One after the other, there seems to be too much on my mind’s platter to have been fully geared for this challenge.
So, fingers crossed with the next two weeks in hand for me to prep up. Some rough drafts, random jottings, and journal entries will be collated and made coherent to be published in April and hopefully you will love to read my posts!
They say to never judge a book by its cover. But covers have influenced my decisions. 😀 Great choice of theme. All the best to you 🙂

Aha, that’s different. Over the years, I’d been reading posts but never exclusively on Book covers. Not one, but 26 book covers. I might say all of us, at some point bought books based on covers. So its good to see a post as this one. ALL the best for the challenge, Much love. Kikzbee

Book cover plays a big role in whether you want to pick up the book or not. It is the face of the book. I am sure, it must not have be an easy task to do a book cover review but its a very interesting and different theme. Good luck.

Hope you are going to give some tips on developing interesting book covers that attract readers as a part of your writing about book covers. You are also going to develop a good understanding of developing covers. May be you can write about it in your reflections.

Best of luck with the preparations – hope life gives you time to get things sorted. Book covers is a wonderful idea for a theme – everyone always says they are so important, but they often get left out in the overall review or things.

Yeah, book covers ought to be part of the review…even I miss out on writing about them sometimes, so hopefully I can make up for the omissions in this challenge.

Love this idea! I have often found that a cover does more to make me want to pick up a book than even the blurb. That first visual appeal is so important. All the best for AtoZ!

Yes, and sometimes the visual appeal causes more trouble than not! Thank you so much for visiting my blog!

Oh, I love that idea!
Covers are so special, don’t you find? They can ease you into the story, but sometimes, they are tricky. I’ve certainly bought more than one book based on the cover, and then regret it.
Can’t wait to read your challenge!
